清末民初 外銷銀四君子高足碗
the deep bulbous body divided evenly into six partitions, each raised up from a short stem to a point top on the rim resembling lotus petals, the exterior decorated with 'four noble ones'- plum, orchid, bamboo, and chrysanthemum, intermittent with four-clawed dragons, the foot rim with a 'WAI KEE 90 SILVER' mark
Provenance: From the collection of the late Donald Black.
Note: Donald Black was a renowned Jockey champion in Hong Kong in the mid-20th century. He moved to Hong Kong after the Second World War, following his service in the British Navy, stationed off India. As an accountant he was a partner with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co, until his retirement in 1962, when he returned to Great Britain.
