Note: Nielsen is a sculptor known for his voluptuous depiction of the female form in his work. He studied sculpture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, then went on to produce numerous public sculptures- notably the 22 granite sculptures he produced for the redevelopment of Blågårds Plads in Copenhagen. As well as creating large public works, Nielsen also created numerous series' of statuettes for the porcelain manufacturer Bing & Grondahl throughout his career, including the Bacchanalian series offered here.
