Note: Charlotte Newman (1840-1927), usually known as Mrs Philip Newman, was a London-based jeweller, making jewels in the Classical and Renaissance revival styles and later as in this case in the Arts & Crafts style. Her pieces were shown at the International Exhibitions in Paris in 1867 and 1878 and she was the first woman to be admitted to the Jewellers Guild in London.
