DOUGLAS [Lord Alfred]
ALS of 2 pages from Lord Alfred Douglas to "Dear Sphinx" [i.e. Ada Leverson]. The letter is dated 23 June, 1905 from 99 Church St., Chelsea and signed "Bosie" It invites Mrs Leverson to attend an at home on Thursdays. The writer recalls meeting Mr Leverson and his settling "Ernest's debt."
Note: Ada Leverson's home became a meeting place for writers and artists, particulalry those associated with the Yellow Book, such as Beardsley, Beerbohm, George More and Wilde, the latter whom she took into her house on his being released from bail. "Ernest" may be Ernest Scarfe, one of the young men of his and Wide's circle , with which Douglas was still in contact in 1905
