marked TB, Glasgow town mark, O, of early Old English pattern with script initial R to terminal
Note: This previously unrecorded Glasgow maker's mark appears to date to the middle of the 18th century and bears the pseudo date letter O which is most commonly associated with the period 1757 - 1780. The initials could relate to either Thomas Barr or Thomas Bisbrown but both these men are only recorded as Journeymen so would not have had their own mark. The only Freeman of Glasgow whose initials fit are those of Thomas Brydson who was made free in 1779 and only worked for four years. While it is a tentative attribution, Brydson seems the most likely maker of this piece.
