Description
The funeral barge which conveyed the body of the late Lord Nelson from Greenwich to Whitehall Jan. 8th 1806. London: J. Hinton, July 1, 1806. Framed, small size.
Note: Le Quesne 27. Essentially a smaller version of the previous two lots with no space to show the accompanying vessels. It differs in two important aspects. There are only four, not five, pairs of oarsmen, and the barge is proceeding downstream and the wind is blowing from the East. Not in the National Maritime Museum, Royal Naval Museum or the Nelson Museum at Monmouth.
