Miner's Right Certificate - Ballarat Gold Rush document, Colony of Victoria, issued for Ballarat, 10th Dec. 1856, issued to John Welch, valid until 9th Dec. 1857, on (? oiled) paper, 21 x 22.5cm, somewhat dust-soiled
Note: The Ballarat gold rush began in 1851. Within a few months the population had swelled to over 1,000, and the gold rush population peaked in 1858 at circa 60,000. This Miner's Right certificate therefore dates from the height of the gold rush.
