Note: This work is being sold on behalf of the charity Art in Healthcare to support their charitable aims.
For over thirty years, the Scottish charity has displayed works from its holdings of modern and contemporary art in health and social care settings, to create welcoming and stimulating environments for patients, visitors and staff. The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic provided an opportunity to review the collection so that it can be cared for and shared as effectively as possible. As a result, a selection of works are being de-accessioned and the proceeds will be used to ensure that the collection remains relevant, provides maximum benefit to as many people as it can reach physically and digitally and continues to support emerging Scottish artists.
Denis Peploe’s Loch Kishorn of 1962 is an emotional response to the dramatic landscape of the north-west highlands of Scotland. Peploe rendered the majesty of the scene before him in short, heavily loaded brushstrokes which capture the tumultuous and changing nature of the weather in the region.
