The Hobby Horse vol. 3, 1888 for an article on chain stitch embroidery by May Morris.
Note: This design was used for cushion covers and fire screens. The public could buy them as finished embroideries or as kits to complete at home and they were an inexpensive way of acquiring William Morris's work. It is unusual to find an example entirely executed in chain stitch.
