Biography: Salvador Dali was a Spanish surrealist artist, whose worked is characterised by bizarre, dream-like imagery, and a very high level of technical skill and precise draughtsmanship. Trained in more classical methods, he was drawn to the avant-garde, and joined the surrealist group in 1929, ultimately becoming one of its leading figures. His visual work spanned many mediums including painting, printmaking, photography, film, sculpture and design, and he also wrote fiction, poetry and criticism. In his art, he was pre-occupied with ideas of the subconscious, sexuality, religion and dreams. There are two museums dedicated to his work, in Florida and Spain, and his works are featured in prestigious museums and galleries across the globe.
