Dated Piccadilly [London], April 8, 1803, written on one side of a sheet 22 x 18cm, docketed on verso, signed "Nelson + Bronte", addressed to Messrs. Lubbock & Co., regretting the return of prize goods at the request of the French, apologizing for his inability to help, and proclaiming that, "if this mode were adopted no foreigner could purchase prize goods and this would give France more power and insolence than she has at present which is needless..."
