Note: This magnificent production was the life work of the compiler who did not live to see it completed or published. It was completed by Thomas Ruddiman eleven years after the compiler's death. The fine engraved facsimile plates are by George Child. Adam Smith quotes from the preface in the Wealth of Nations.
