123 leaves with around 300 signatures, many clipped and laid-in, with others inscribed directly onto the album pages in a red morocco album with the word 'autographs' tooled in gilt to the upper cover, 200 x 170cm, opening with a laid-in note describing the album, followed by an autograph envelope from Queen Victoria, signatures include many Prime Ministers: Lord Salisbury, Gladstone, Asquith, Arthur Balfour, Lloyd George and others; Guglielmo Marconi; Fridtjof Nansen, Sir John Murray; George Finch; James McNeill Whistler & D.Y. Cameron; J.M. Barrie & Rudyard Kipling; Dame Ellen Terry; Andrew Carnegie writing: "Let Prince Charlie be ever remembered since to him we are indebted for so many of the jewells(?) of Scottish Song"; Kier Hardie; Sir Harry Lauder; and HRH Edward Prince of Wales in 1933, later Edward VIII; contained in its original leather case with contemporary note of bequest
Provenance: H.B. Watson of Harlesden, Falkirk. Bequeathed to Field Marshal Douglas Haig, 1st Earl Haig's Fund to benefit ex-servicemen in around 1933. Today, the Haig Fund is known as the Poppy Appeal. The album is being sold in aid of Poppy Scotland.
