The elongated cushion-shaped pink sapphire, weighing approximately 25.0 carats, within a surround of seed pearls, to a scalloped openwork frame and pendant loop millegrain-set with old single and rose-cut diamonds
Accompanied by GCS report no. 81293-24, dated 19th January 2021, stating that the pink sapphire was found to be natural, with no indications of heating. Origin opinion: Sri Lanka.
Formerly the property of Marija Barachutė, who was born in Lithuania in 1911 in a mining community. She moved to Scotland when still a small child.
On starting school her name was changed to Mary Barclay. She left Glasgow alone on a liner to America at the age of 16. She settled in Chicago and lived there for about five years before returning to Scotland. During her years in Chicago, she led an interesting life, dressed very fashionably and returned to Scotland unmarried.
