Note: Dora Maar was a French photographer, painter, and poet. She is perhaps best known for her provocative photomontages from the SUrrealist period in Paris. Maar also famously had a nine year affair with Picasso, and it was after their relationship ended that her painting moved away from his Cubist influence, into the more expressionistic landscapes which, like the work offered here, characterised her late career. These works are considered among the best of her artistic output.
