Barbara Regina Deitzch was born in the Free Imperial City of Nuremberg in 1706 to a family of artists. Her father Johann Israel, brother Johann Christoph, and sister Margareta were all artists employed by the City courts.
Deitzsch specialised in watercolour and gouache paintings of animals and plants which were made into engravings, most of which she created herself. Her works sold all over Europe during her lifetime and many of her works can now be found in distinguished private and institutional collections worldwide.
