Crystalline Image was based on a watercolour August Image – Crystalline, dating back to 1958-9 and presents a jewel-like image transformed from the original into a notable Jacquard weave. Technically it is quite a feat, with an astounding range of techniques, weave structures and colours and like Frink’s Warriors was one of the most expensive textiles produced by Edinburgh Weavers (£5 15s 6d), signifying the richness and complexity of the work.
