Full Valuations
Our valuations cover all categories of Fine Art & Antiques and Valuables as well as General contents, carried out by our nationwide team of valuers with the support of our network of specialists and consultants. Your completed bound valuation document comes with illustrations and can be made available on CD if required.

Our valuers carry out their work in your home in as discreet and unobtrusive a manner as is practical. We aim to complete our work as quickly as possible to minimise disruption and pride ourselves on a reputation for integrity, courtesy and professionalism.

Discretion, confidentiality and security are also integral to the service we offer and all our systems and procedures have been developed with this in mind. We use the most current technology available to guard and maintain our exemplary security record.

We are aware that in the current market, clients can be very cost conscious in regard to added services and that transparency of charging is one of the keys to building good relationships. Lyon & Turnbull charge purely by time and not by any percentage of value. We are always keen to discuss the costs with the client in advance and are happy to visit the property to go through your requirements, gauge the size and scale of the job and provide a firm estimate.

Walk Through Validation
This is an appraisal service that can, within a two-hour period in your property, validate the current sums insured. A process that ensures that the contents are correctly categorised into General Contents or Fine Art & Antiques and provides a survey of the property details and security measures where appropriate. The report will include our recommendations whenever a full or part valuation is, in our opinion, advisable.

From our experience, we estimate that approximately seven out of every ten clients are currently underinsured. A Walk Through Validation can usually ascertain if this is the case.

INHERITANCE TAX AND CAPITAL GAINS TAX PLANNING
Lyon & Turnbull offers a complete Inheritance Tax (probate) valuation service for those engaged in the administration of estates. Upon completion a valuation of chattels will be supplied in accordance with Section 160 of the Inheritance Act of 1984.

Lyon & Turnbull are also able to undertake Capital Gains Tax valuations for Fine Art & Antiques.
