Seeking Scottish Design from 1860

Scotland’s unique identity in the world of design is represented in a new auction ; Scottish Design from 1860.
 

The sale encompasses decorative arts and design from diverse periods in the country’s design history from the Aesthetic and Arts & Crafts movements, to Art Nouveau and the Glasgow Style.

Also represented is the Edinburgh Arts & Crafts designers, Art Deco and mid-century modern designs as well as work from more contemporary times.



The inaugural sale in 2011 included Part II of the Liberty & Co collection of furniture designed by Sir Robert Lorimer  and a group of Glasgow Style works by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his circle. It also incorporated a wide range of materials from ceramics, glass, jewellery and textiles to metalwork, pictures, books and furniture.
