Paintings & Prints

The Paintings Department currently holds eight regular sales per year, featuring a wide range of works, from Old Master paintings and drawings to Contemporary work by leading International artists. Our Fine Paintings sales are held in May and November. We also have two Scottish Contemporary & Post-War Art sales in the spring and autumn. In addition we have four Interiors sales which provide a constant supply of more affordable works by British and Continental artists.

Our staff have a range of interests and expertise to cover Western art from the seventeenth century to the present day. We are particularly strong on Scottish Art, such as the Colourists, although we have also achieved record prices for other British and European artists. The Department is emerging as the leading seller of paintings based outside London and has gone from strength to strength, setting no less than ten World Record prices with the sale of the Drambuie Collection in 2006. In 2008 we were invited to sell the Deloitte Collection, one of the most important contemporary corporate collections in the United Kingdom, for which we chose the Royal Academy in London as the perfect venue for the auction.

With dedicated staff in Edinburgh and London, we are able to offer a personal, specialised and confidential service to clients looking for advice on selling, or those looking to expand their current collection.
